The album was a commercial and critical success and is Led Zeppelin's best-selling, shipping over 37 million copies worldwide. It is one of the best-selling albums in the US, while critics have regularly placed it highly on lists of the greatest albums of all time. It was certified Gold a mere 8 days after its release, on November 16, 1971.
The offered Gold record was produced in the early 1980, based on the style of the plate and back matting, and its plaque reads "Presented to LED ZEPPELIN to Commemorate the Sale of More Than 500,000 Copies of the ATLANTIC RECORDS Long-Playing Record Album LED ZEPPELIN IV.'" The album has sold nearly 40,000,000 copies to date, but this is the award that came first.
The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with just a few scuffs to the gold finish on the wooden frame. Minimally Near Mint condition.
