The offered RIAA Platinum Record Award was presented for Pink Floyd's 1977 LP Animals, which was released on January 23, 1977. The album is the predecessor to the band's, and lead singer Roger Water's, opus, 1979's The Wall. It continues the longer form songs like its predecessors, but started to become deeply conceptual like The Wall would be. It's loosely based on the novel Animal Farm by George Orwell, creating its own allegory for British social ills of the period. The album was well received, flying off the shelves, reaching number 3 on the US charts.

The album was certified Gold in a few weeks and certified Platinum by March 10, 1977. The offered award, however, was most-likely produced during the 1980s, with its "floater" design and the inclusion of the cassette AND the CD in the display. The plaque reads "Presented to ROGER WATERS to Commemorate the Sale of More Than 1,000,000 Copies of the COLUMBIA RECORDS Album, Cassette & C.D. 'ANIMALS.'"

The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with minimal wear. Near Mint to Mint condition.
