The offered Babe Ruth Yankees scorer could be ordered from Quaker Oats in 1934 by mailing in three box tops from their “Puffed Rice” or “Puffed Wheat” cereals. Babe Ruth was the spokesman for the promotion, and it just so happened that during the beginning of the campaign, his time with the Yankees came to a close when he was traded to the Boston Braves before the start of the 1935 season. Quaker Oats reacted by stopping production on the Yankees versions of the scorers and creating a second version with the requisite “B” for Boston on Ruth's cap. This shift made the Yankees version of the scorer by far the less common of the two, with the later Braves version much more widely distributed as the campaign ran through 1935. The Yankees scorer presents with a few areas of cracking to the celluloid and some staining. Excellent condition.
