Elvis Presley was famously generous with his inner circle and friends, and his hairdresser Homer Gilliland was no exception. The offered set of gold colored cuff links and tie clip with large costume green/gold stones was a gift from Elvis to "Gill" as he was known. The partnership began in 1955 when he was hairstylist to Elvis’ mother Gladys, and continued through Gill’s 20-year career doing Elvis’ hair at Graceland, on movie sets, on his plane or anywhere else he needed to make the King’s hair look perfect.
The accompanying letter on "Homer 'Gill' Gilleland" letterhead is dated October 7, 1991, and reads
My name is Homer M. Gilleland. For over 20 years preceding his death, I was the personal hairdresser of Elvis Aaron Presley. During my employment as Elvis' hairdresser, he gave me as gifts, numerous items of clothing and personal property, such as these cufflinks from his personal wardrobe. These gold colored metal matching costume wrap over style cufflinks with green center stone & matching tie tack set, were given to Elvis by one of his fans in Memphis and he wore them often. These cufflinks are authentic as given to me by Elvis Aaron Presley during my employment as his personal hairdresser.
The cufflink stone settings measure 3/4 x 3/4 inches and all three pieces present with only mild signs of wear. Near Mint condition.
