Offered is a pristine, unused "Chicago Cubs Stockholders' Courtesy Pass" for the 1944 season. Though William Wrigley owned the majority of Cubs shares during his long tenure as owner, there were many minority stockholders, some with as few as 2 or 3 shares, and annual Stockholder Meetings. At a certain ownership level, stockholders would have been issued a set of the offered passes good for "One Admission to Wrigley Field" during the 1944 season. The phrase 'Good for only Championship Season Games" can be confusing, but it actually refers to the Major League Baseball regular season, not the postseason. The season was played for the "National League Championship." This pass belonged to "Stockholder No. 77." The Cubs were still a year away from their National League Pennant win in 1945, finishing fourth place in 1944, but the team did include National League All-Stars Phil Cavarretta and Bill Nicholson. The pass measures 4 x 2 1/2 inches and presents with no major defects. Near Mint to Mint condition.
