The offered 1990's Reebok baseball cleats were owned and worn by baseball Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst during his time coaching with the St. Louis Cardinals. Red later gave the cleats to legendary actor Burt Reynolds, and each cleat is signed and inscribed: “To Burt, Red Schoendienst HOF 89.” The plaque on the elaborate, three dimensional display reads: “Burt Reynolds Red Schoendienst Cleats. Albert Fred “Red” Schoendienst, born February 2, 1923, is an American Major League Baseball coach, former player, manager, and Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee. An outstanding second basemen, he played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1945-56, 1961-63), the New York Giants (1956-570. amd the Milwaukee Braves (1957-60) and was chosen for 10 All-Star teams, as well. Red then managed the Cardinals from 1965-1976, the second-longest managerial tenure in the team's history. During Red's time of coaching for the St. Louis Cardinals, Burt Reynolds came to own a pair of his Reebock brand baseball cleats.” Red remained an employee of the Cardinals organization with the title of Special Assistant Coach, and in 2017 completed his 72nd consecutive season as a Major League player, coach, or manager. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. Accompanied by the original tag from the 2014 auction of "Property from the Life and Career of Burt Reynolds." The elaborate display measures 31 x 23 ½ x 8 ½ inches, and the shoes present with heavy wear from on-field use. Excellent condition.
