The offered guitar pick comes from a batch of picks that were custom made for Elvis Presley during the 1970s. Elvis used this variety of pick, as well as several others over the years, on stage when he played guitar. Of the several varieties of picks he employed, the offered style is by far the most iconic. This triangular faux tortoiseshell guitar pick is embossed with the initials “E.P.” on one side. Although it cannot be determined if this example was one with which Elvis played, it was owned by him, and its characteristics match known examples. The pick measures approximately 1 3/4 inches on each side. (The photo at right shows Elvis on stage using this style of pick.) The pick comes with a letter of authenticity from Graceland, dated February 10, 2000, from Greg Howell, Director of Exhibitions & Collections. The letter reads “The brown triangular guitar picks with white “EP” monogram in the possession of John Heath is from the Elvis Presley Collection from Graceland Archives, Memphis, TN. These are the original guitar picks used by Elvis Presley tour in 1977.” Included with the pick is also a small modern print of a photo of Elvis using this style of pick during a concert in 1977. Near Mint condition.
