By 1976, Colonel Tom Parker had tried nearly every conceivable shape and size for Elvis tour promotional pieces. The offered large paper banner may represent the pinnacle of the form, with its large central image of Elvis, clean graphic elements and more unusual heraldic shape. The poster was created to promote Elvis’ Las Vegas Hilton engagements and was utilized as early as the 1975 Summer Festival and as late as the December 2-12, 1976 run. That 15th “season” would end up being Elvis’ last set of concerts at the legendary theater of the former International Hotel. These posters adorned any blank surface in the hotel that the Colonel’s promotional staff saw fit to cover. The offered banner has also escaped Colonel Parker’s penchant for adding the “SOLD OUT” phrase that so often ended up embellishing these promotional banners. However, SOLD OUT has not escaped this lot entirely, as the colorful paper banner is offered with a blue rectangular paper sign that reads in white lettering “All ELVIS Concerts / Dec. 2 - Thur 12 / SOLD OUT / Season’s Greetings” flanked by the Hilton logo on either side. This sign measures 13 by 28 1/2 inches, the banner measures 36 1/2 by 23 3/4 inches and both are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated (quoted here). The blue sign has its original two white tape strips across bottom and top of reverse. The larger sign has wear around the edges and upper right corner with some creasing marks overall, and glue residue along edges on the reverse. Excellent to Mint condtion.
