The offered collection of promotional ephemera for Elvis Presley's film Blue Hawaii includes: a U.S. program, measuring 10 7/8 by 8 3/8 inches; a U.S. press book, measuring 11 by 8 3/4 inches; a Dutch program, measuring 6 1/4 by 4 3/4 inches; a German program, measuring 9 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches; and six (6) black-and-white film stills and two (2) black-and-white photos, each measuring 8 by 10 inches. Blue Hawaii, the musical romantic comedy, starred Elvis as Chadwick Gates, a man just returning from the Army to his home in Hawaii. Producer Hal Wallis wanted to show what life was like for servicemen when they returned, a role well-suited for Elvis following his Army service. Released by Paramount in November of 1961, Blue Hawaii was the first of several movies for Elvis that were filmed on location in Hawaii. The film won the fourth-place Laurel Award for Best Musical in 1961 and the movie reached number two on the Variety box office charts. It was the 10th top-grossing film of 1961, earning just over $5 million. In 1962, Hal Kanter’s screenplay was nominated by the Writers Guild of America for Best Written American Musical. Even the soundtrack album remained on the Billboard pop chart for 70 weeks, with 20 of those at number 1.  The group is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The items present with minor toning, scuffing and some paper separation in the binding of the booklets. Excellent Condition overall
