Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for The Beach Boys 1966 single "Good Vibrations". The song was an immediate critical and commercial hit, topping record charts in several countries including the US and UK. Characterized by its complex soundscapes, episodic structure and subversions of pop music formula, it was the costliest single ever recorded at the time of its release. It later became widely acclaimed as one of the finest and most important works of the rock era. This is the early "white linen matte" version of the RIAA record award, which was produced in the period. The record was released on October 10, 1966, and certified gold by the RIAA on December 21, 1966. The plaque reads: “Presented to BRIAN WILSON to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the Capitol RecordsPop Single Record 'GOOD VIBRATIONS.'” The award measures 13 ¼ X 17 ¼ inches and presents with mild scuffs and scratches to the wooden frame.
