Offered is a "BASF" brand reel to reel tape with a recording of Elvis Presley's 8:15 PM dinner concert on August 13, 1970, at The Las Vegas International Hotel. This tape captures a classic performance during the second "Summer Festival" at The International Hotel. This is the sixth show during that stand in Vegas--audio of the first two shows is also available as the previous two lots in this auction. Elvis jokes with the crowd still, even though he's worked out his opening night jitters. He also talks about the film being made during these shows, That's the Way It Is. "Stranger in the Crowd" is real highlight of this set list. He also talks about his appearances on The Jackie Gleason Show, The Milton Berle Show and The Ed Sullivan Show. It's possible the show was recorded on another medium and then transferred to the offered reel to reel, though it is a vintage tape. The sound quality could most-likely be improved by a professional. The songs on the reel include:
- Opening Theme
- "That's All Right"
- "I Got A Woman"
- Elvis introduces himself as "Fats Domino"
- "Hound Dog"
- "Love Me Tender"
- "Dont Cry Daddy"
- --segued medley with--
- "In The Ghetto"
- "I Just Cant Help Believin'"
- "Stranger In The Crowd"
- "Make The World Go Away"
- "Sweet Caroline"
- (above song includes one false start)
- "You've Lost That Loving Feeling"
- "Polk Salad Annie"
- Band Introductions
- Instrumental - Elvis walks into the audience
- Elvis introduces Art Carney
- "The Wonder Of You"
- "Heartbreak Hotel"
- "Blue Suede Shoes"
- "One Night"
- "All Shook Up"
- "Bridge Over Troubled Water"
- "Suspicious Minds"
- "Cant Help Falling In Love"
The tape presents in playable condition, as evidenced by the sample above. Near Mint condition.
