The offered piece of china was used on Frank Sinatra's private Gulfstream II "Sunbird" model jet, which he upgraded to in June of 1967, after he sold his first private jet. The china itself was designed at the behest of Frank's wife Barbara who worked personally with Flintridge China to create the pieces. The pattern on the plates can also be seen in period images of the plane's exterior, as well as the uniforms of the stewardesses. The offered saucer and the rest of the 30 pieces of china were all purchased in an Ebay auction in 2000, run by Frank's friend and business partner. A signed affidavit from the winner of the auction accompanies the lot. The signed "Letter of Provenance" details many aspects of the sale and the china itself. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a personal possession of one of the most beloved entertainers in history. The piece measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter and presents with moderate wear from use, but is still in Near Mint condition.
