The offered letter dated February 1, 1952, is signed by former President of the United States Herbert Hoover. Hoover expresses his lack of support for Republican hopeful Dwight D. Eisenhower to be the nominee in the upcoming general election: "I agree with you there is no way out of this muddle by electing a representative of the Pentagon." The 31st President also references signing copies of his then just-published autobiography The Memoirs of Herbert Hoover. The letter is to financier Charles R. Blythe, a noted Republican Party supporter in the 1940s and 1950s. He specifically supported one of Eisenhower's Republican opponents in the 1952 primary, California Governor Earl Warren, during Warren's 1942 gubernatorial bid. The letter is typed on Hoover's executive stationary, and the framed display features a photo of Hoover, inlaid with the letter. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. Excellent to Mint condition.
