Tarzan author Edgar Rice Burroughs has endorsed this personal check, dated December 5, 1939. The check is matted for framing with a photo of Burroughs reading Tarzan and The Lion Man, his 1933 book form the series. Burroughs wrote in the adventure, science fiction and fantasy genres, and is most well-known series of books include Tarzan of the Apes, John Carter of Mars (Barsoom series) and Carson Napier of Venus. He is also known for the hollow Earth–themed Pellucidar series, beginning with At the Earth's Core (1914); and the lost world–themed Caspak trilogy, beginning with The Land that Time Forgot (1918). The offered check lists his address as "Tarzana, California" which is the name he gave to his ranch north of Los Angeles, and the name that was subsequently adopted for the city that was incorporated in the area of the ranch. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The check measures 8 1/2 x 3 inches and presents in Near Mint condition.
