Offered is a nice pairing of items from the life and career of actor Carol Channing, including a signed newspaper page and a carbon of a letter from Cole Porter. The signed photo is from the December 16, 1957, issue of The San Francisco Chronicle, and Channing has signed next to her alluring pose. The letter from Cole Porter instructing Mr. Pembroke Davenport to re-audition Ms. Channing to confirm the range and register of her voice for possible consideration for an upcoming stage production Out of This World, which was eventually produced the next year on Broadway, in 1950. The audition was moot, because Channing landed the lead in the Broadway production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which opened later in 1949 and ran for nearly two years, after 740 performances. The Channing signature is accompanied by a COA from Beckett Authentic.
