Offered is a 1950's Disneyland architectural photostat of the original concept art for "Sleeping Beauty Castle Courtyard". The artwork was created by one of the original Disney "Imagineers" Herb Ryman. Ryman worked in watercolor, oils, and pen & ink sketches. In 1953, Ryman drew the first illustrations of Walt Disney's vision of a theme park that eventually became Disneyland. The Sleeping Beauty Castle was the first castle ever designed in Disneyland in 1955, and was updated in 1977 so people could actually walk through it. The artwork is marked "Courtyard - Elev." and shows with great detail what the castle would become. Ryman would later design "Cinderella's Castle" at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The photostat measures 25 1/2 x 21 1/2 inches and presents in matting, with minor amounts of adhesive along the edges. Excellent condition.
