The offered pair of custom made cowboy boots emanate from Burt Reynolds personal wardrobe, and they were worn by Reynolds in the 1996 film Striptease, when he played Congressman David Dilbeck who was infatuated with Demi Moore's character, the stripper, Erin Grant. The boots are on full display in a scene where the Congressman is covered in vaseline and wearing only these boots, a vest and a cowboy hat! The plaque on the elaborate, three-dimensional display reads: “Burt Reynolds Personally-Owned Cowboy Boots. A pair of blue ostrich leather boots from the personal wardrobe of Burt Reynolds. The boots were worn in the 1996 American comedy-drama erotic film 'Striptease,' produced and written by Andrew Bergman and starring Burt Reynolds, Demi Moore and Ving Rhames. The film is based on Carl Hiaasens's novel of the same name and is about a stripper who becomes involved in both a child custody dispute and corrupt politics. Each boot is monogrammed on the instep 'BR.'” The boots were made for Reynolds by noted Tampa, Florida, bootmaker Daniel Gadarian, whose boots regularly sold in the early 1990s for between $1,000 and $5,000 to his famous clients that inlcuded Dolly Parton, Smokey Robinson, Randy Travis, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Costner and Don Johnson. Reynold's owned 20 pairs of Gadarian boots, and his wife, Loni Anderson owned another 10 pairs! Reynolds met Gadarian after the bootmaker designed custom boots for the football coaching staff at Florida State University, Burt's alma mater, in 1989. Accompanied by the original tag from the 2014 auction of "Property from the Life and Career of Burt Reynolds." The framed display measures 30 x 25 ½ x 11 inches, and the boots present from moderate, expected wear from use. Near Mint condition.
