The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas was based on the 1978 Broadway musical, and the 1982 film starred Burt Reynold's and Dolly Parton. Offered are Reynold's cowboy boots he wore in the film as Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd, which emanate from Reynold's personal collection sold in 2014. Reynold's wears the boots in every single scene in which he appears in the film, with the exception of scenes where he's not wearing much at all! The raucus musical comedy was a big hit at the box office in 1982, having the biggest opening weekend of any musical up to that time. Dolly Parton's recording of her 1974 #1 hit “I Will Always Love You” went to #1 AGAIN after it appeared on the film's soundtrack. Parton is one of the few artists in history to hit #1 twice with the same song. The boots are tan leather with heavy Western detailing and a distinct dimpled pattern that covers them. Written on the interior of each boot is “#1”, an indication that there may have been more than one pair of these available on the set during filming. This is standard procedure for wardrobe worn for the main character in a film. The boots are presented in an elaborate framed display with large graphics from the film and a studio promotional photograph of Dolly and Burt. The Burt signature on the the photo is secretarial. Accompanied by the original tag from the 2014 auction of "Property from the Life and Career of Burt Reynolds." The display measures 28 x 27 ½ x 11 inches, and the boots present with expected minor wear and one stain on the right boot. Excellent to Mint condition.
