NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson has boldly signed the offered Spalding basketball "Magic Johnson HOF 02" in commemoration for the year he was inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The ball is housed in an impressive, three dimensional framed display with an 8 x 10 inch photo of Magic in action and a plaque below the basketball. The plaque reads "'Magic' Johnson #32 / Los Angeles Lakers / Hall of Fame - 2002." Johnson's entry into the league, along with his rival and eventual close friend Larry Bird, dragged the NBA out of its "dark ages" during the 1970s, when NBA finals games were not even always broadcast live! With Coach Pat Riley, Magic's "Showtime" Lakers transformed what pro basketball meant. The evolution of the league into what we know it as today, while certainly contributed to by Dr. J, Larry Bird and serveral other superstars of the early 1980s, is due in large part to Johnson's on-court AND off-court greatness. The display measures 18 x 34 x 7 inches, and the ball, though deflated to fit in the display, presents in Near Mint condition.
