The offered pair of black dress socks was owned by Elvis Presley until he gifted them to his close personal friend and Memphis Mafia member Charlie Hodge. The socks are of the same style that Elvis would have worn with his stage outfits. In 1981, Charlie sold the socks to Mike Moon for display at his Elvis Presley Museum. Mike's museum displayed items like the offered socks for nearly 40 years, mostly in the Pigeon Forge, Tennessee location.
The accompanying notarized "certified copy" of the original bill of sale between Charlie and Mike Moon is dated March 21, 1981, and lists the offered socks among 44 other items being sold that day. Ed Hill of The Stamps Quartet was also listed on the document, as he too was selling some items to Mike Moon. Also included with the socks is a letter from Chris Davidson, who purchased the bulk of Mike Moon's inventory in the summer of 2018. The nylon socks measure 21 inches in length and present with signs of heavy use, but exhibit no damage. Excellent condition.
