The offered, mid-grade example of Sun Records 217 features Elvis Presley's songs “I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone” and “Baby Let's Play House.” The songs were recorded during two different sessions, with “Baby Let's Play House” put down in a session dated to the first week of February 1955, and “I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone” was recorded on March 5, 1955. The single was released by Sun on April 25, 1955. This record is considered a “Memphis Pressing,” because of the “delta” or “push” marks on the labels, three small indentations of the paper where the record stamper left indentations on the record itself when it was pressed at Plastic Products, Inc. where Sun had records made in Memphis. This detail usually indicates that the record is of an earlier vintage because Plastic Products didn't have a huge capacity. When Elvis' singles started selling big, Sam Phillips also had them pressed at other pressing plants in California and Pennsylvania. Those examples do not have these “delta” marks. Sun 217 is the last of Elvis' Sun singles to exhibit the “delta” marks; the reason, most likely, is that equipment was changed in the production process. Accompanying the record is a Sun Records 45 sleeve, though these sleeves with the bright yellow design were not in used until 1958. The 45 measures 7 inches in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated, quoted here. GD+ condition with moderate to heavy scuffing and scratches. Labels show signs of heavy use, and “Baby Let's Play House” has tape staining.
