Offered is a Culver Pictures studio-issued news service photo featuring Clark Gable and Mary Astor promoting their 1932 film Red Dust. The film co-starred Jean Harlow, with whom Gable would star in six films. Red Dust is a "pre-Code" Hollywood film, before censors wouldn't allow a film to show Jean Harlow taking a bath, while actor Clark Gable is pulling her hair. Another provocative scene shows Gable embracing Harlow with his hands just below her bosom (oh my!). The stampings on the reverse indicate this photo remained in the archives of a publication from the time of the film's release in 1932 until at least the late 1960s--the last 'Culver Pictures" stamping shows the office address with a zip code. The photo is encapsulated by CGC and graded "VERY FINE". The photo measures 10 1/4 x 8 inches and presents Near Mint condition.
