Offered is a group of five photos taken at Elvis Presley's concert at the Olympia Theatre in Miami, Florida on August 3, 1956. Four show Elvis performing during the show--and one of them is in color! The fifth photo shows the lucky fans all dolled up before the show.

Elvis played three shows that night—he would play a total of seven shows in two days at this venue. Fans started waiting in line at midnight the day before, and the opening Friday shows commenced with screaming fans who, as papers reported, were so hysterical that the star was barely audible above the unrelenting shrieks from the audience. Fans were so crazed over this new star that he was forced to trade in his new lavender Lincoln after love notes in lipstick had been scrawled all over it. It was also at these shows that Elvis’ pants were torn and his lavender jacket was ripped by overly enthusiastic fans. A shooting star was on an epic rise in the form of this new musical talent.

The processing dates on the edge of the four black and white photos reads “SEP 56”, and the color photo is stamped on the rerverse indicating it was processed during “Week Ending Sept. 29, 1956.” Also included is a postcard sent by our fan's mother dated August 2, 1956, where she references that her husband is “taking them down to se Elvis Presley Friday nite”, which was August 3. The photos are on period “VELOX” paper, and each measures 3 ½ x 3 ½ inches. The photos are in stunning Near Mint to Mint condition.

Please note: The ticket stub saved by the photographer is offered as the next lot in this auction!
