Offered is a handwritten letter signed by actor Sir John Gielgud congratulating a friend on his 100th birthday. Gielgud was 75 at the time of the 1979 letter and would live to 96 himself. His career spanned 60 years from being a legend of the London stage to Hollywood, but it was his Academy Award for the 1981 film Arthur that made him a household name. He also has the distinction of being an EGOT, having won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony--Gielgud is one of only 16 performers achieve this. Accompanied by a COA from Beckett Authentication. The letter measures 8 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches and presents with minor wrinkles. Near Mint condition.
