Offered is a 1945 letter from actor Joan Crawford to a friend in Ohio. In the letter Joan apologizes for being tardy in her reply because she is "now getting ready to go to New York for the month of October as 'Mildred Pierce' is to open there on the 21st." After several years of box office disappointments in the late 1930s and early 1940s, Crawford's career rebounded in 1945 with Mildred Pierce and her Academy Award for Best Actress. Accompanied by a COA from Beckett Authentication. The letter measures 6 3/8 x 10 1/2 inches. There is some moderate staining on the lower right. Excellent condition.
