Mathey-Tissot wristwatches were a popular gift among celebrities and one of Elvis’ favorites as well. This example with gold-toned face and leather strap, was a gift from Elvis Presley to Roy McComb, husband of Janelle McComb. The McComb's were lifelong friends of the Presley family. The Swiss-made automatic wristwatch with date window and stainless steel back plate is marked Mathey-Tissot on both the face and wrist strap. This handsome watch includes the original box and owner’s manual along with a letter from Sue McCasland, family friend, Elvis author, and former fan club president, that states in part, “Roy and Janelle McComb lived in Tupelo, Mississippi where Elvis was born. The McCombs and the Presleys were life long, close friends. At one point, Elvis gave both Roy and Janelle matching Matthey [sic] Tissot watches. This man’s Matthey [sic] Tissot watch was given to Roy McComb sometime later after the gift of the pair of watches.” This letter is signed and dated September 19, 2015. The watch, original gift case measuring approximately 10 by 2 3/4 inches, owner’s certificate and letter are also accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The case shows some wear to the outer edges, the owner’s manual is like new with very minor staining on front and back covers, and the watch is in overall good condition with typical signs of wear. An additional hole has been added to the strap to accommodate a small wrist.
