Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for Elvis Presley's 1962 hit "Return to Sender." The record was released on October 20, 1962, but wasn't certified gold by the RIAA unitl April 15, 1982. It is from this later era when the offered award emanates. Not every song and LP were submitted for certification at the time of their release. The song was featured and performed by Elvis in the film em>Girls! Girls! Girls!</em> and recorded in just two takes during a session that produced the other soundtrack entries in March 1962 at Radio Recorders Hollywood Studios. The award's plaque reads “Presented to Elvis Presley to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the RCA Records Single Record 'Return to Sender.'” The award measures 13 ¼ x 17 ¼ inches and presents with only the most mild wear to the wooden frame and toning to the matte area.
