Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award "Presented to Charlie Watts" for The Rolling Stones 1970 LP Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out. The live album was recorded at shows in New York City and Baltimore in November 1969, just before the release of Let It Bleed. It is the first live album to reach number 1 in the UK. It was reported to have been issued in response to the well known bootleg Live'r Than You'll Ever Be. The record was released on September 4, 1970, and certified gold by the RIAA on November 2, 1970. This is an early "white linen matte" version of the award produced in the period. The plaque reads: “Presented to CHARLIE WATTS to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Dollars Worth of the London Records Long-Playing Record Album 'GET YER YA YA'S OUT.'”
The famous cover photo by David Bailey, featuring Charlie Watts (RIP, Charlie!!) with guitars and bass drums hanging from the neck of a donkey, was inspired by a line in Bob Dylan's song "Visions of Johanna": "Jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule" (though, as mentioned, the animal in the photo is a donkey, not a mule). The band would later say "we originally wanted an elephant but settled for a donkey", which honestly would have made a great title for the record. The award measures 17 1/2 x 21 1/2 inches and presents with even toning to the matte area, which is a slightly darker cream color. Near Mint condition.
