Offered is a stunning carte-de-visite signed by the brilliant, if not politically misguided, Conferate General Robert E. Lee. The portrait was taken by Matthew Brady at Lee's last meeting with American General and President Ulysses S. Grant. The matting is cut on the reverse to show Brady's imprint which reads “M.B. Brady & Co. / National Photographic Portrait Galleries / No. 352 Pennsylvania Av. / Washington, D.C. & New York”. The cart-de-visite measures 2 ½ x 3 ½ inches and is housed in a frame measuring 11 x 14 inches. Near Mint condition.
