The offered charm was given to Annette Funicello from her mother on the day of her High School graduation, June 16, 1960. While Annette was indeed given her diploma roughly the same time her classmates were receiving theirs at University High School in Los Angeles, she actually received hers backstage at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Annette was appearing in a show there and couldn't get back for her ceremony. The ceremony was a surprise, and the diploma was presented by a local New York High School Principal on behalf of University High. Annette's mother was on hand, and she presented her with the offered charm-a touching keepsake from a mother to a daughter. The back of the charm is engraved “A. F. / 6-16-60 / Love Mom” and stamped “14k”. It was sold in her 2015 Estate Sale to benefit The Annette Funicello Research Fund for Neurological Diseases and is accompanied by the COA from that sale. The charm weighs 11 grams and presents with two small garnets on the bows and two small blue stones in the “graduates” eyes.
