Offered is a large original airbrush painting by noted artist Charles E. White, III for Chuck Berry's 1972 LP Chuck Berry's Golden Decade Vol. 2. The work, airbrushed on illustration board, is aptly titled “Pink Radio” by White, whose career spanned more than three decades and was defined by his shirking of convention in his work. He helped define the aribrush artwork look that was popularized during the 1970s and 1980s. He was celbrated in his era, even having his work displayed at the Museum of Modern Art during a 1988 poster show. The imagery presented on this artwork is at once nostalgic, of course, but also somewhat tinged by melancholy with the wilting flowers and scattered candy. The two record album was orignally released to great acclaim in 1967, and in preparation for the release of Volumes 2 and 3, Chess produced this 1972 version with the White artwork. White's other album artwork includes Chuck Berry's Golden Decade Vol. 3, also offered in this sale, as well as Cheech and Chong's historic comedy LP . Accompanying the artwork is a copy of the original LP, and there is also a cover of the LP cover mounted on the reverse of the frame, for reference. The painting measures 18 x 33 inches and is framed to a size of 24 x 38 ½ inches. Near Mint to Mint condition.
