Offered is a thank you card for condolences that was mailed to fans and friends who reached out to the Presley family with their sympathies on the tragic loss of Elvis. This example comes with its original mailing envelope addressed to "Mary Collins" in July of 1978. The simple ivory notecard relays on the front “The family of Elvis Aron Presley acknowledges with grateful appreciation your kind expression of sympathy” while remaining blank on the inside.

Elvis died on August 16, 1977 and the local Memphis paper, The Commercial Appeal, announced his passing the following day with the headline, “Death Captures Crown of Rock And Roll - Elvis Dies Apparently After Heart Attack.” After his death, thousands flocked to Graceland to pay their tributes, with over 80,000 fans lining the processional route. Even President Jimmy Carter was quoted saying that Elvis “permanently changed the face of American popular culture.” A musical icon was lost that dark day, but the memory and legacy of Elvis lives on. The card measures 3 1/2 by 5 inches and presents with minor wear and age-related toning. Excellent to Mint condition.
