Offered is a beautiful complete set of lobby cards for Elvis Presley's 1958 film King Creole. The story of A Stone for Danny Fisher featured Danny as a boxer in the suburb of Brooklyn, New York. The film was originally written for James Dean, but then it was shelved after his untimely death in September of 1955. In 1957, the idea of the film was resurrected and adjusted for the lead to be played by the wildly popular star Elvis Presley. The character of Danny was converted from a boxer to a musician to suit the new lead, the location was changed to New Orleans, the title was adjusted to King Creole, and a new film adaptation of the novel was born. King Creole was released by Paramount in July of 1958 and was a critical and commercial success as well as being one of Elvis’ favorite roles. The cards measure 11 x 14 inches and present with minor edge and corner wear, only one has pinholes, and several have paper tape on the reverse. A very boldly colored, well-preserved set. Excellent to Mint condition.
