Offered is a 1909 Boston Herald Supplement premium photograph of Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Harry Hooper. The premium photograph was subsequently used as a news service photograph, based on the newsroom markings and stampings on the back. The use of something like this premium as a news service photo is not unprecedented. If the image was fairly clear on a printed piece, it could easily be reproduced for newspaper printing. The artifact measures 5 ¾ x 8 ¾ inches (trimmed) and presents with newsroom embellishments for print contrast around Hooper's figure, as well as pencil notations on the reverse and a stamping that reads “REFERENCE DEPT. JUN 16 1913.” This is likely near the publication date. Very Good condition.
