Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for Elvis Presley's 1957 LP Elvis' Christmas Album, an Early White Linen Matte Style. Elvis recorded his first of two Christmas albums in 1957, and it was released by RCA Victor in October of that year, in plenty of time to spread good cheer that Christmas season. An instant popular success, the album spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard charts, was the first Elvis title to be awarded Diamond status by the Recording Industry Association of America, and holds the record as the top-selling Christmas album of all time in the U.S. Over 15 million copies have been sold worldwide. The RCA Victor release Elvis’ Christmas Album was Elvis’ 4th studio album to be recorded at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, and was originally released as a deluxe limited edition (LOC-1035) in October of 1957. Several re-issues have been released over the years, with the first in 1959 featuring a new cover with a close-up of Elvis in front of a snowy backdrop. RIAA certified Elvis’ Christmas Album Gold in August 1963, and the offered award was created in that period.
The offered RIAA-certified award for Elvis’ Christmas Album contains a gold-toned plaque mounted beneath the gold record that reads “Presented to RCA RECORD CORP. to commemorate the sale of more than one million dollars worth of the RCA RECORDS long-playing record album ‘ELVIS’ CHRISTMAS ALBUM’.” This framed display features a gold-toned record above the gold-colored plaque with small image of the album cover, all mounted on a white background. The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with minor wear to the wooden frame and some toning to the white matte area. Excellent to Mint condition.
