Offered is Elvis Presley's owned and worn 14K gold ring with five diamonds and a black star sapphire stone mounted to create a large "Musical Note" on the ring's face. The gold sculpted ring was given to a Las Vegas executive with the American Heart Association (AHA) backstage after Elvis' last concert at the Las Vegas Hilton on December 12, 1976.
At that same show, the AHA executive presented Elvis with a plaque to thank him for the all the money that had been raised for the foundation during that week of shows, $17,000. That award is also offered as a lot in this auction. It is the perfect companion piece to this and/or the other ring presented to the AHA exec that evening!
The accompanying copy of the letter from AHA executive Arthur Conner details the event, and reads in part:
I was supposed to give it [the plaque] to him after the show but got so caught up in the moment that I was able to present him the gift at the side of the stage. He briefly stopped the show and thanked me for the plaque...After the show, we went down the stage elevator to meet him at his dressing room. He had several people there outside waiting for him. I waited for The Colonel to officially introduce me after he leaned into him. Elvis immediately went inside his dressing room and came back with a black case. He reached inside and handed me several items including a diamond music note ring, 3 carat box car diamond ring and a pair of his sunglasses...Tom returned the plaque to me that I presented to Elvis and requested a few changes be made. I chose ot have another plaque made and returned to his offices.
Connor mentions that he donated the rings and sunglasses to the Las Vegas AHA charity auction that year, and THEN PURCHASED THE RINGS HIMSELF! Accompanied by a modern copy of the above photo showing Elvis accepting the AHA plaque on stage. The size 9 1/4 ring weighs 27.23 grams and presents with internal wear on the band. Stunning Near Mint to Mint condition.
