Offered is one of the most impressive large pieces signed by Babe Ruth ever offered, from a lifetime of wonderful signatures and inscriptions on oversized pieces. Signed just months before his passing in August of 1948, the large black and white image of Ruth watching a ball leave Comiskey Park is inscribed "To The Catholic Boys Guidance Center of Boston. Try your best and give all you have. Who can ask for anything more. Your Pal Babe Ruth. 4-12-1948."  The center was located at 102 The Fenway in Boston--the building is now part of Northeastern University. Ruth would have had a true soft spot for a club for helping wayward boys, surely reminding him of St. Mary’s Industrial School and Orphanage in Baltimore where he was raised. His inscription is sincere and heartfelt, from a man seemingly feeling his mortality and wishing to pass on something of the wisdom he has gained in his short years. The photo measures a triumphant 17 x 21 inches, and the framed display measures 25 x 29 inches. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication. Near Mint condition.
