The offered set of fountain pen and pencil set commemorated the 1945 World Series between the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers. The series went seven games, and was played in the WW II format with three games in Detroit followed by four games in Chicago. Though this format should have benefitted the Cubs, they lost in seven games to the Hank Greenberg led Tigers. The fountain pen and pencil both read "CHICAGO CUBS 1945 DETROIT TIGERS / WORLD SERIES," and are still contained in their original red box. The writing implements measure 6 inches in length, and present with very little wear. Near Mint condition (the box is lesser, perhaps technically Excellent condition).
