1984 marked Fleer's first foray into the traded/update boxed set market. In it's time, this issue created a frenzy. First, the rookie card of Dwight Gooden and its perceived scarcity (it was produced in lesser quantity compared to its Topps counterpart). Later, Roger Clemens, graded SGC 96 MINT 9 and Kirby Puckett, graded SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5 added to the excitement. The rest of the set minimally grades NM.
