Offered is one of only 40 12-foot long mylar banners promoting Elvis Presley's concerts in Las Vegas that were ever produced. It is the largest of any piece produced in the format for Elvis, and by far the most visually dominating. At 12-feet wide and more than 3-feet tall, with twin images of Elvis belting it out on stage, and nearly-2-foot-tall letters spelling “ELVIS,” the banner is phenomenally impressive. When Colonel Parker discovered Mylar, the mirror-like reflective poster material, it seems he saw a match made in heaven. For several years during the early to mid-1970s International/Hilton era of Elvis concerts, fans would often see oversized banners employing Mylar hanging all over lobbies and venues. Flashbacks Inc., a California firm specializing in the highly reflective plastic material, sold the Colonel on its “Visual impact. That grabs and holds. That reflects. That’s multi-dimensional.” So states their period marketing materials, copies of which are included in this lot. The banner exhibits many defects, with tears, small areas of missing mylar, tape reinforcements on the reverse and many areas of scuffing and scratches. All that said, it is still in one piece and maintains its refelctive brilliance. Very Good to Excellent condition.
