Offered is a massive Mercury/Polygram Records 5X Platinum Award for Bon Jovi's 1986 smash hit LP Slippery When Wet. The album was released in August 1986 and reached the level of 5X Platinum by January 1987. The album features many of Bon Jovi's best-known songs, including "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Livin' on a Prayer", and "Wanted Dead or Alive". The album spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and was named by Billboard as the top-selling album of 1987. Slippery When Wet is one of the top 100 best-selling albums in the United States. The offered award was presented to an industry marketing executive for his efforts promoting the album. The award's plaque reads "PRESENTED TO POLYGRAM RECORDS TO COMMEMORATE THE SALE OF MORE THAN 5,000,000 COPIES OF THE MERCURY/ POLYGRAM RECORDS ALBUM, CASSETTE AND COMPACT DISC 'SLIPPERY WHEN WET' YOU GIVE ROCK A GREAT NAME." The award measures 30 x 30 inches and sits 2 iches deep, featuring dfive full sixed platinum colored LPs floating in front of a huge portrait of the band. The frame has several cracks, as does the plexiglass. One section has been repaired on the bottom edge. None of these distresses detract from the award's visual impact.
