The offered gold "Jose Arellanes" brand top was owned by Prince and worn during his 1997 concert tour. It emanates from the collection of his former wife, Mayte Garcia. The shirt is accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Garcia and by Chris Davidson, President of "Prince: The Collection." The letter states: "This gold sparkled stage top with zippered collar at the back was worn by Prince for various performances in Europe and the United States. The turtleneck top features a Jose Arellanes clothing label inside the collar. The shoulders are padded with the sleeves long and flared at the waist. This gold top was obtained from Prince's first wife, Mayte Garcia." An autographed copy of Garcia's book The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince is included with this lot.

The "Jam of the Year" tour started July 1, 1997, and ended January 22, 1998, after visiting more than 60 cities in the U.S. and Canada. The tour was in support of Prince's 19th studio album Emancipation, which had been released in November of 1996. The album's songs featured heavily in the set lists, which also included classic songs from the Prince catalog. The shirt measures 25 inches in length and 17 inches between the shoulder seams. The "Jose Arellanes" tag is intact near the zipper seem, along with the care tag. It presents with no damage. Near Mint condition.
