The film won the fourth-place Laurel Award for Best Musical in 1961 and the movie reached number two on the Variety box office charts. It was the 10th top-grossing film of 1961, earning just over $5 million. In 1962, Hal Kanter’s screenplay was nominated by the Writers Guild of America for Best Written American Musical. Even the soundtrack album remained on the Billboard pop chart for 70 weeks, with 20 of those at number 1. The group is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
