Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for Elvis Presley's debut, self-titled LP. Though the album was released on March 13, 1956, the RIAA didn't start certifying records gold until 1958. The offered award was produced at the time of the LP's certification, on November 1, 1966, as indicated by its early white matte design. The recording sessions took place on January 10 and January 11 at the RCA Victor Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and on January 30 and January 31 at the RCA Victor studios in New York. Additional material originated from sessions at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 5, August 19 and September 10 of 1954, and on July 11, 1955.  This was of course the first rock and roll album ever to make it to the top of the charts and the first million-selling album. The award measures 17 1/2 x 21 1/2 inches and presents with moderate areas of toning/staining to the matte area, but little other distress. Excellent to Mint condition.
