Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for Elvis Presley soundtrack LP for his 1957 film Loving You. The album was released a week before the film was in theatres on July 9, 1957, and the record spent 10 weeks at #1 on the charts. This was the first soundtrack LP Elvis had done (Love Me Tender had just an EP released, as there were only four songs in the film). It included the smash hit "Teddy Bear" and seven other songs from the film, as well as several previously released tracks. The soundtrack was finally certified Gold by the RIAA on April 9, 1968--the RIAA didn't start certification until 1958. The offered award was created that period. The award measures 17 1/2 x 21 1/2 inches and presents with just minor wear to the wooden frame and very mild discoloration to the matte area. Near Mint condition.
