Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for Elvis Presley's 1961 hit single "Can't Help Falling in Love With You." The song was featured in Presley's 1961 film Blue Hawaii. During Presley's late 1960s and 1970s live performances, the song was performed as the show's finale. Most notably, it was also sung in the live segment of his 1968 NBC television special (the "'68 Comeback Special"), and as the closer for his 1973 Global telecast, Aloha from Hawaii. The record was released on November 1, 1961, and certified gold by the RIAA on March 30, 1962. This is the early "white linen matte" style of award produced in the period. The plaque reads: “Presented to RCA RECORDS to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the RCA RECORDS Pop Single Record 'CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE.'” The award measures 13 ¼ X 17 ¼ inches and presents with mild scuffs and scratches to the wooden frame. Near Mint condition.
