Offered is a an RIAA Gold Record Award for Elvis Presley's 1971 LP Elvis Country. The album was certified gold by the RIAA on December 1, 1977, and this award was produced around that time or shortly thereafter. "I'm 10,000 Years Old" refers to snippets of the song "I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago" that acted as a bridge between each track.
When recording in June 1970, Elvis and producer Felton Jarvis realized they had nearly enough songs for a country album, and recorded a couple more to round it out. The lead single of the album, "I Really Don't Want to Know" backed with "There Goes My Everything", was released on December 8, 1970 and peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, number two on the Adult Contemporary chart, and number 23 on the country singles chart. Nearly every style of country music is represented; bluegrass, honky tonk, Western swing, rockabilly, countrypolitan, and even the then-nascent "outlaw" movement. Sales of many of Elvis' albums spiked after his passing in August 1977, and Elvis Country was among them, reaching "gold record" status just a few months later. The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with only minor scuffs and scratches to the gold painted frame. Near Mint condition.
