Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for Elvis Presley's 1978 LP Elvis: A Legendary Performer, Vol. 3. The album was released on November 1, 1978, and the RIAA certified it Gold just 6 weeks later on December 18, 1978, in the wake of renewed interest after Elvis' passing the previous year. The offered award was produced in that period. Following the format of the series of compilations that started in 1974, the album was a mixture of previously released recordings and tracks that, as of the date of this album's release, had never been issued on an official RCA album release. "Hound Dog" and "In The Ghetto" were two such songs that were big non-album hits. The award's plaque reads "Presented to Elvis Presley to Commemorate the Sale of More Than 500,000 Copies of the RCA RECORDS Long-Playing Record Album 'Elvis-A Legendary Performer Volume 3.'" The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with only minor wear to the gold frame. Near Mint condition.
