This RIAA Gold Record Award is for Prince's 1979 LP Prince. Prince's second album was written, arranged, composed, produced and performed entirely by him, and it was better received than his debut effort. The album contained three Billboard Hot Black Singles hits: "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?", "Sexy Dancer" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover". "I Wanna Be Your Lover" was Prince's first hit single on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number eleven. The album was released on October 19, 1979, and certified gold on February 15, 1980. The offered award was produced at that time. The plaque reads: "Presented to Warner Bros. Records to Commemorate the Sale of More Than 500,000 Copies of the Warner Bros. Records Long-Playing Record Album 'Prince'". The award measures 17 ½ x 21 ½ inches and present with only mild scuffs to the gold painted frame. Near Mint condition.
