Elvis Presley RIAA Awards from the 1992 Graceland Redesign
The following seven RIAA Gold and Platinum Record Awards are a special offering to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Graceland's redesigning of Elvis Presley's racquetball court/trophy room. Only recently has the court been returned to its functional glory as a court, but in 1992 it was covered floor to ceiling with Elvis' Gold and Platinum awards. At that time, Graceland sought to update to their Awards for Elvis' various singles and LPs, many of which had achieved Gold and even Multi-Platinum status and many of which had never even been certified! The offered grouping of awards emanate from that same period and were produced with the copies that ended up on the walls of Graceland. This is the first of several offerings from this group of RIAA awards.
Offered is an RIAA Platinum record award for Elvis Presley's 1956 EP "Elvis Volume 1", released in October 1956, it was finally certified Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum on March 27, 1992. The EP featured four songs: "Rip It Up", "Love Me", "When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again" and "Paralyzed". The award's plaque reads "Presented to Elvis Presley to Commemorate the Sale of More than 1,000,000 Copies of the RCA RECORDS Extended-Play Record 'Elvis Volume 1'". The award measures 13 x 17 inches and presents with little to no wear. Near Mint to Mint condition.
